Excitatory system of cats Print E-mail

The excitatory system of cats can be recovered!
To prove, that their excitatory system can be recovered after damage, cats had to be ill at first with unknown illness because of scientists. And then to recover practically without their participation.
Mysterious illness of a pregnant cat

Research, which was spent by experts from University of Wisconsin-Madison (University of Wisconsin-Madison), became result of accident. More precisely, result of mysterious disease of pregnant cats.
Scientists checked influence of various diets on growth and development of an organism of a cat. Including during an antenatal life of the cat's embryos. For this purpose pregnant females held on special diets. Unexpectedly at some animals whom three-four months have stayed on an experimental feed, serious progressing neurologic disturbances began to appear: problems with removal, a loss of sight and a paralysis.

Explorers have cancelled a diet, and on a normal feed of a cat began to recover gradually. As a result all disturbances of job of the excitatory system have disappeared.
Myelin destruction
As scientists have found out, the ill cats had an expressed and eurysynusic loss of a myelinic layer in the excitatory cells. A myelin - material which forms a layer of "electroisolation" of processes of the excitatory cells, axons. Also facilitates carrying out of signals on the excitatory tissue. Its loss which scientists name a demyelination, calls deterioration of perception, movements and many other things functions - depending on what excitatory cells have suffered.

The neurologic problems noted by explorers at cats, are very similar that arise at people at the diseases bound to a demyelination. But the complex of symptoms of unknown cat's illness has appeared is absolutely not similar to one human disease bound to a myelin.

The excitatory cells are recovered
Restoration of a myelin at cats passed very slowly, but all axons which have lost a cover, eventually have recovered it. «However, the new layer of a myelin has appeared not such thick as pristine, - one of authors of research neurologist Ian Dunkan (Ian Duncan) notes. It is, of course, abnormal, but even the thin myelinic membrane recovers function of the excitatory cell».

Scientists and have not found out the exact cause of neurologic problems from cats who sat on an experimental diet. But assert, that such diet hardly can call a demyelination the person. «Most likely, it is a problem inherent to a certain kind of animals», - considers Duncan.

Nevertheless discovering of the fact of restoration of a myelinic cover of axons at cats allows scientists to hope, that, probably, the same will descend sooner or later and in human excitatory system. After all if a myelin can recover at patients, for example, the chance is a multiple sclerosis, as the lost functions of the excitatory system too will be recovered.
